Cambodia was scheduled to hold SEA Games 31, however, the country wanted to swap its hosting until SEA Games 32 in 2023 with Vietnam, saying that the country needed more preparatory time.
The SEA Games Federation agreed to the proposal.
The government has assigned Hanoi’s authorities to work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related agencies on hosting SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi could basically meet infrastructure for the events. Sport facilities in Hanoi have been upgraded to serve the 8th Vietnam National Games this year.
The SEA Games 31 and Para Games 11 are expected to take place in Vietnam between October and December 2021.
