Vietnamese 5 per cent broken rice was quoted at USD 480-490 per tonne, up from USD 470-480 a week earlier and the highest level since December 2024. Traders said the Philippines' resumption of rice purchases from Vietnam had driven prices higher.

According to government statistics, Vietnam exported 475,000 tonnes of rice in October 2026, up 37.2 per cent from the same month last year. This brought total exports between January and October to 6.83 million tonnes.
Meanwhile, Thai 5 per cent broken rice rose to USD 490-495 per tonne, its highest level since January 2025, compared with USD 480 a tonne quoted the previous week. The increase was driven by strong demand and tightening supplies in some areas.
Traders said demand from the Philippines had prompted more buyers to purchase rice from exporters. On the supply side, flooding in several rice-growing areas had reduced production.
Concerns over the El Nino phenomenon and limited supplies from the next harvest until next year have also continued to support prices.
In contrast, Indian 5 per cent broken parboiled rice was quoted at USD 382-386 per tonne this week, its lowest level since October 8 and down from USD 387-392 a week earlier. Indian 5 per cent broken white rice was priced at USD 389-393 per tonne.
