On November 7, Nghe An's Department of Industry and Trade urged local authorities and businesses to stockpile essential goods ahead of possible natural disasters over the next 10 days.
Pham Van Hoa, director of the department, told Dantri that the directive followed instructions from central and provincial authorities to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure supplies for residents.

The department urged commune and ward authorities to closely monitor forecasts and warnings of heavy rain, floods, flash floods and landslides, and prepare appropriate response plans.
Local authorities were asked to secure sufficient supplies, equipment and essential goods, assess consumer demand and develop suitable stockpiling and distribution plans.
Priority should be given to remote areas and communities at risk of flooding, landslides or prolonged isolation, ensuring residents can access essential supplies promptly during disasters.
Supermarkets, shopping centres and distributors were instructed to secure adequate stocks, mobilise staff and transport vehicles, and prepare to deliver goods to areas affected by flooding.
Businesses must display prices clearly, sell goods at listed prices, maintain product quality and food safety, and help stabilise market prices.
The measures aim to prevent shortages and price surges during natural disasters, particularly in areas at risk of isolation due to flooding and landslides, while helping protect residents' livelihoods.
