The first Dong Thap Pangasius Festival is scheduled to take place from December 3 to 6 at Vo Nguyen Giap Square in Hong Ngu Ward, under a plan recently approved by the provincial People's Committee.

The event will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as well as authorities from other major pangasius-producing localities, including An Giang, Can Tho and Vinh Long.
Participants will also include industry associations, businesses, production facilities, cooperatives, agricultural cooperatives, aquaculture farmers, suppliers of production inputs, processors and distributors from Vietnam and overseas.

Held under the theme "From the Mekong River to Tables Around the World", the festival aims to highlight the positive transformation of the pangasius industry and demonstrate a commitment to improving production quality, efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Dong Thap also hopes the event will promote inclusive social development, improve livelihoods, strengthen social equity and reduce environmental risks and pressure on ecological resources.
The festival will provide an opportunity to showcase the potential and strengths of the local pangasius industry while strengthening links across the supply chain, from farming and processing to distribution. It also aims to help producers meet increasingly stringent import requirements in domestic and international markets.
Dong Thap is Vietnam's leading province in terms of pangasius farming area and export processing capacity. It is home to 80 seafood processing plants serving export markets, with a combined annual capacity of nearly one million tonnes.
Notably, the province's pangasius industry operates through an integrated supply chain covering farming, processing and distribution, providing a foundation for increasing product value and strengthening its competitiveness in international markets.
By organising its first festival dedicated to pangasius, Dong Thap hopes to create a platform for closer cooperation between government agencies, scientists, businesses and fish farmers, helping drive the sustainable development of one of its key industries.
