A total of 1,111 women performed a ceremonial tea-brewing display at the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Tea Fest in Lam Dong Province on December 5.

The opening night took place at Lam Vien Square in Xuan Huong-Dalat Ward, where Lam Dong authorities, ministries and agencies, 40 ambassadors and representatives of international organisations and businesses attended.

According to Dinh Van Tuan, vice chair of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, the province benefits from a mild climate and fertile soil that support high-quality agricultural products.

"Lam Dong has become a cradle of premium tea varieties recognised in Vietnam and internationally," the official said.

He said the festival offers an opportunity for the province and businesses to showcase distinctive tea products and culture to visitors from home and abroad. The event also strengthens international cooperation with the participation of more than 50 ambassadors, consuls general and over 80 beauty ambassadors from more than 80 countries.

The festival aims to connect producers, distributors and tea consumers, opening business opportunities and promoting global supply chains. It also offers visitors a journey through lush tea-growing regions and traditional tea culture.

At the opening ceremony, VietKings announced four new Vietnam records. These include the 1927 Bao Loc tea factory, one of the oldest surviving tea-processing sites in the country; the largest-scale international tea festival with extensive cultural, economic and diplomatic activities; the performance featuring 1,111 tea artisans preparing and offering tea, the largest of its kind at a single venue; and the festival with the highest number of Miss Cosmo beauty representatives participating.

During the event, the Vietnam UNESCO Federation and the Japan UNESCO Federation granted an intangible cultural heritage practice certificate to Lam Dong Tea Joint Stock Company (Ladotea) for its efforts in gathering practitioners and spreading tea knowledge on an unprecedented scale.

Held under the theme “Where the world’s tea heritage connects”, the festival is being organised in Vietnam for the first time and runs from December 5 to December 7 across Dalat, Bao Loc and key tea-growing areas of Lam Dong.

Visitors can join a wide range of activities, including an international tea exhibition fair, a high-level conference on sustainable tea development, a tea music gala, a tea diplomacy programme and street-festival events.
