With a 4-3 penalty shootout win after extra time finished at 2-2, the Vietnamese U23 team triumphed over Qatar in AFC U23 Championship semifinal, becoming the first Southeast Asian country to make the final of the championship.
Many entrepreneurs and companies have announced to offer the team big rewards following the triumph over Qatar
Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of FLC Group, has promised to give a VND1 billion (USD45,454) bonus for the team and VND500 million for goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung alone.
Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, has said to reward them with VND1 billion in cash. Viettel Group has promised to give the team the same amount.
Meanwhile, VPMilk Company will provide the team players’ whole family with free IQLac Pro milk product for one year.
Thaco – Truong Hai auto firm has committed to grant VND500 million to the team and a car branded Kia Opitma worth nearly VND800 million for the team coach Park Hang Seo.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Culture and Vietnam Football Federation have announced to offer the team VND1 billion each.
The squad will also receive a reward of VND200 million from Fund for Vietnamese Young Talents. The Hanoi People’s Committee has offered VND1 billion for the team.
Lots of banks including VietcomBank and VietinBank have also followed the suit to present the squad VND1 billion each.
VPBank have said that they will offer attractive deposit interest for customers as a way to mark the squad’s victory. Any customer whose name is Quang Hai and Tien Dung, the team’s the most outstanding players in the semi-final match, will enjoy a plus 0.23% for their deposit interest rates, while the bonus for others will be 0.1%.
Small and medium-sized enterprises with their names including the word Dung or Hai will be given a plus 0.2% for deposit interest rates per annum by VPBank.
Many companies allowed their staff a half day off to watch the semi-final match.
Total bonuses for the U23 football team may climb up to tens of billions of VND.
