The suspension comes as the centre undertakes a comprehensive review of the show's script, technical systems, and safety protocols. The programme will resume once optimal conditions are ensured, with updated information to be provided to residents and visitors in due course.

The decision follows an incident on the evening of May 3, during a ceremonial cannon firing show. Several pyrotechnic flares malfunctioned mid-performance, descending into the crowd and causing alarm among spectators. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A representative from the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre said the malfunction was likely due to technical issues, including early equipment setup that exposed the pyrotechnics to moisture. As a result, some shells failed to ignite fully and fell prematurely.

In response, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has called on local authorities to reassess the organisation and safety standards of the show.

On May 8, Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee, convened a meeting with the conservation centre and relevant departments to address the incident and review future plans for the programme.
