Hue sets 72-hour limit for funerals

Hue City has introduced a 72-hour limit on funeral services as part of new rules promoting more orderly, environmentally friendly and culturally appropriate funeral practices.

Under the new rules, funeral services must end within 72 hours of a person's death unless local authorities approve an extension.

The rules require funerals to be conducted in a solemn, economical and orderly manner while respecting cultural traditions, religious practices and legal requirements. They also call for compliance with environmental, traffic and public order regulations.

Mourners are prohibited from scattering cash, foreign currency, votive paper or other items along funeral processions. Sound systems must not disturb nearby residents, and superstitious practices are banned.

The city also encourages the use of reusable funeral wreaths, reduced consumption of alcohol and tobacco, modest receptions, and cremation or other forms of burial that are compatible with local cemetery planning.
