Organised by the city’s Department of Culture and Sports ahead of Vietnam Family Day, the contest aims to foster reading habits, enrich family life and encourage self-learning through the development of family and clan book collections.
The competition is open to households across Hanoi and will be rolled out in all communes and wards citywide, with organisers seeking to encourage participation across multiple generations within families.
Participants must submit a seven-minute video introducing family members, home bookshelves and reading habits, followed by a presentation on a selected book featuring discussion among family members.
The contest will be held in two rounds, with local authorities selecting one or two entries from each commune or ward for submission to the city-level competition by June 8, 2026.
City-level judging will take place from June 15 to June 20, with winners expected to be announced between June 26 and June 28.
Organisers said a total of 130 prizes will be awarded, including one first prize, five second prizes, 10 third prizes, 110 consolation prizes and four special-category awards.
