Many fans were shocked by the last-minute cancellation of Ariana Grande's show in HCM City on August 23.
Many were upset as the show was cancelled just hours before the American pop star was supposed to go on stage at Quan Khu 7 Stadium. Many fans who had arrived early for the show were shocked after reading the notice. There was no advance notice of the cancellation from the organisers.
Two Filipino fans said they arrived in Vietnam and prepared things for the show, but when they came to the stadium, there was an announcement that it had been cancelled due to the singer’s ill health. A Russian family said they were disappointed and didn't believe it was true.
Two employees were tasked to answer concert-goers' questions but no one was satisfied. An upset father questioned the check-in employees at the stadium about the cancellation as there was no member of the promoters at the site.
"My son and I flew from Hanoi, the tickets are still in my pocket. Who can answer my questions? Who'll pay for my tickets? You can't just apologise every time. You give the refund for only my tickets right? What about the effort to travel here," he said.
Ariana Grande apologised for cancelling the show in a note posted online, saying that doctors wouldn't allow her to perform due to a health problem. There are reports that she lost her voice after flu.
“My babes in Vietnam, I apologise from the bottom of my heart but I’m really dealing with some health problems at the moment,” she wrote. “I came here to Vietnam, so excited to perform, my doctor won’t allow me to do the show for you tonight. I’m so so sorry. There is nothing I hate to do more than to do this but I promise to make it up to you in the future. I love you and thank you for understanding," Grande wrote on her Instagram.
