Hanoi's Hang Ma Street is drawing crowds of young people, families and tourists for shopping and photos as the capital gets into the Mid-Autumn Festival spirit two weeks early.

With about two weeks to go before the festival, the street in Hoan Kiem Ward has already been transformed by colourful lanterns, lion dance heads, masks and traditional toys.

Cool weather on the evening of September 11 brought large crowds to the popular Old Quarter street, with families and children among those enjoying the festive atmosphere.

From around 6 pm, visitors began streaming into the street to stroll, shop and take photos against brightly decorated shopfronts.

Prices of Mid-Autumn Festival toys have remained largely unchanged from last year. Small star-shaped lanterns cost VND 20,000-30,000 (USD 0.8-1.1), while larger ones sell for VND 50,000-70,000.

By around 8 pm, the street had become increasingly packed, with foreign tourists joining local visitors to experience Vietnam's traditional Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere.
