The four-day festival, themed Dong Thap, the Land of Sweet Fruits, is being held at Hung Vuong Square and runs through June 8.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dong Thap People's Committee Chairman Pham Thanh Ngai said the festival was designed not only to promote the province's fruit industry but also to honour farmers, attract investment and boost tourism.

Accoridng to Ngai, the event would provide a platform linking policymakers, scientists, businesses, cooperatives, growers and consumers while supporting trade promotion and market development.
Dong Thap is one of Vietnam's largest fruit-growing provinces, with more than 134,000 hectares of orchards producing over 2.5 million tonnes of fruit annually.
The province has issued 3,452 growing-area codes covering more than 100,000 hectares, helping key products such as mangoes, durians, jackfruit, pomelos and longans meet export standards and expand overseas markets.
The festival is aimed to promote agricultural innovation amid digital transformation and climate change while strengthening links among farmers, scientists, businesses and logistics providers
Visitors can explore fruit industry exhibitions, trade fairs and cultural activities during the event.
Authorities said they hope the festival will gradually become a flagship annual event and a cultural, tourism and commercial meeting point for Dong Thap and the Mekong Delta.
