Son Hai Group has contributed VND 2 billion (around USD 83,000) and 20 tonnes of rice to support people affected by the devastating floods in Dak Lak Province.

On December 2, Nguyen Viet Vuong, general director of Son Hai Group, together with his wife, Miss Vietnam 2020 Do Thi Ha, handed over VND 2 billion in cash and 20 tonnes of rice to families suffering losses in the historic floods in Dak Lak Province.

Nguyen Viet Vuong said the donation was a gesture of solidarity, aiming to help residents overcome immediate hardships, resume production and stabilise their lives. Local authorities expressed gratitude, noting the contribution would help accelerate recovery efforts across the province.

Earlier, readers of the online newspaper Dantri/Dtinews had donated VND 3 billion (about USD 125,000) in aid shared among Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa, giving VND 1 billion (USD 42,000) to each province. In Dak Lak alone the newspaper also distributed VND 145 million (about USD 6,000) to 29 households whose houses were destroyed or damaged, and coordinated with a national pharmacy chain to deliver over 30,000 essential medicine pills, valued at VND 150 million (about USD 6,250), to flood-hit communes such as Dong Xuan.

Dantri also announced a project to build 50 floating houses for flood victims in communes Dong Xuan and Tuy An Bac, each about 20 square metres in floor area, with total construction costs of VND 1.75 billion (roughly USD 72,900).

According to an official report, the floods in Dak Lak resulted in 63 deaths, eight missing persons and hundreds of houses destroyed or badly damaged. Total estimated losses exceed VND 5,500 billion (about USD 229 million), excluding the value of personal belongings lost by residents.
