Nguyen Thi Thanh from Thanh Hoa Province, is calling for help to save her son from bone cancer after her husband and two older sons died.

After Nguyen Thi Thanh's husband died, she struggled to raise five children. Unfortunately, in 2013, Thanh's oldest son died when he was working at a construction site. Then shortly later, her second son was electrocuted in a work accident.
After the deaths of his brothers, Nguyen Van Phong did not go to university after graduation but found work to support the family. Thanh then left the rice fields, which yielded little income, to find work in Hanoi with her son.

Phong's illness was diagnosed when he was working as a guard for a kindergarten. At first he felt pain on the thigh but thought nothing of it. When the pain was too much to bear, he was forced to go to hospital and diagnosed with bone cancer. One of his legs was cut off but the cancer cells already spread to other organs. Phong's life is being prolonged by chemotherapy sessions that cost tens of millions of VND.
He was told to take another check-up at the National Cancer Hospital but without money for another check-up or chemotherapy, he can only bear the pain at home. Sometimes, they have nothing to eat but bananas.
"Now I only want to the pain to subside so that I can eat and sleep better. I don't know how long I can live but when I'm hurt, my mother is also in pain," Phong said.
