Representatives of Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper, together with local authorities, recently visited and presented a symbolic donation board worth VND 159.5 million (approximately USD 6,100) to the family of Ly Go Ca, born in 1996, a member of the Ha Nhi ethnic group living in Sin Thau Commune, Dien Bien Province.

In addition to contributions from Dantri readers, the family received VND 20 million (approximately USD 770) from the Thien Tam Foundation, bringing the total support to more than VND 179 million (approximately USD 6,900).
Ca's wife, Po Ga Xu, born in 1997, suffers from idiopathic bone marrow failure syndrome, alongside type 2 diabetes and an ectopic right kidney. The serious illness has left her frequently battling severe anaemia and physical exhaustion, requiring long-term treatment while the family's financial resources have been nearly depleted after years of medical expenses.
Since his wife fell ill, Ca has balanced caring for her with raising their two young children and supporting his elderly parents, both of whom are in poor health.
Repeated journeys of more than 700 kilometres from Dien Bien Province to Hanoi for treatment placed an even heavier burden on the already struggling family. At times, Ca was forced to borrow money from multiple sources to cover hospital fees, medication costs and daily living expenses while staying in the capital.
The family was also living in a deteriorating temporary house that had fallen into serious disrepair.

After Dantri published an article highlighting the family's situation, readers and benefactors from across the country contributed financial support.
Xu's health has since shown signs of improvement. However, she still needs to travel regularly to Hanoi for follow-up examinations and ongoing treatment as prescribed by doctors.
Receiving the donations, Ly Po Long, Ca's father, expressed his gratitude.
"Thanks to this support, my son now has additional funds to continue his wife's treatment and build a solid home for the family. We are deeply moved and grateful for everyone's kindness," he said.

Pham Thi Huyen, Vice Chair of the People's Council of Sin Thau Commune, told Dantri that Ca and Xu's family is among the most disadvantaged households in the area.
According to Huyen, in addition to Xu's serious illness, her father-in-law is a severely injured war veteran with poor health, while the couple's two children are still very young, creating significant challenges for the family.

"Thanks to the support from Dantri readers and benefactors, the family now has the means to continue Xu's treatment and build a small house where the children can study and live in more stable conditions.
"On behalf of the commune authorities, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dantri readers and benefactors who have supported disadvantaged residents in Sin Thau Commune in general and Po Ga Xu's family in particular," Huyen said.
