Representatives from Dantri Newspaper and An Phong Commune People's Committee visited the family on January 25 and handed over the new house to them.

Huynh Thanh Dao, 44, and his wife, Dang Thi Thu, 34, sincerely thanked Dantri and local authorities for giving them a new house just in time to welcome the 2025 Tet Lunar New Year.

"We're so happy to receive just a big and meaningful gift," Dao said. "I want to thank Dantri and all kind donors for your support."

Dao and Thu received the donations after sharing their story on Dantri Newspaper. Dao has problems with his kidneys and lungs and does not have a stable job. His five family members, including three small children, rely on his wife's modest income.

Their old small house has badly deteriorated, but they could not afford to build a new one.

With donations of over VND80 million from readers and VND60 million from the local government's fund, Dantri cooperated with local authorities last December to build a 60-square-metre house for Dao's family. After two months of construction, the house, which has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a restroom, has been completed.

The head of the Hoai An District Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Le Quang Thang, also expressed gratitude to Dantri and kind donors for helping Dao's family build a new house.

"The government's funding of VND60 million for poor households is not enough for them to build new houses," the official said. "Thank you so much for helping clear deteriorating houses in our locality. We hope to continue receiving more support so that more disadvantaged households can improve their lives."
