Among the beneficiaries is 39-year-old Lo Thi U from Na Son Commune, Dien Bien Dong District, who received more than VND 204 million (approximately USD 8,000) in donations. A deaf and mute single mother, she lives with her 3-year-old daughter in a makeshift hut without electricity, clean water or a toilet. They sleep on a rotting wooden plank laid directly on the dirt floor. U survives by growing maize, collecting firewood and foraging for vegetables.
