HCM City has started carrying out a large-scale disinfection of the whole city in an effort to prevent the spreading of Coronavirus.
On the morning of July 23, dozens of specialised trucks operated by military officers started moving along the local streets. They started from Thu Duc City and Binh Chanh District. Major General Le Ngoc Hai from Ho Chi Minh City Command said that 20 trucks would be sent to disinfect the whole city. It is expected that 21 wards would be sterilised a day.
All the officers taking part in the work were carefully prepared with protective masks and clothing.
Some six tonnes of Cloramin B will be used for the disinfection. Many areas in Thu Duc City, especially those under lockdown or quarantine following the discovery of Covid-19 patients were carefully sterilised. Field hospitals, densely residential areas or areas under lockdown will be prioritised. The work is estimated to last seven days, which is expected to help prevent the spreading of the virus.
