Le Van Tu, a 57-year-old fisherman from Nhon Ly Commune, suddenly saw the whale near Seo Island at around 5 pm on June 5.

The whale, which was some 10 metres long, surfaced for five minutes to hunt for fish roughly five times, according to Tu.
Several whales were spotted in the area of De Gi in Binh Dinh between 2022 and 2023.
According to the Binh Dinh Provincial Fisheries Sub-Department, the presence of whales in the waters of Binh Dinh indicates that the local nearshore marine environment in Binh Dinh is improving. If managed and protected well, whales will return regularly.
