The Tan Vu-Lach Huyen project in Hai Phong City was approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2010 with a total cost of nearly VND12trn (USD530m) with Japan's ODA. The 5.44-km-long bridge links Trang Cat Ward in Hai An District with Lach Huyen Port in Cat Hai Island District.
Tan Vu Bridge is 16 metres wide and has four lanes. It is hoped that it will boost the area's development thanks to easier transport between Dinh Vu Industrial zones with other developing areas in Hai Phong's eastern parts and highways to Hanoi.
Not only the bridge will benefit industrial development, but it will also help boost tourism to Cat Ba Island.
