Lam Dong tightens motorbike rentals for foreign tourists

Authorities in Lam Dong Province have moved to tighten regulations on motorbike rentals to foreign visitors following a rise in traffic violations and accidents.

The administration of Lam Dong Province on April 15 instructed provincial police and relevant agencies to review and regulate the growing self drive motorbike rental services for foreigners.

Officials said many foreign tourists lack full understanding of local traffic laws and road conditions, leading to frequent violations and accidents, including fatal cases.

Police have been tasked with inspecting rental businesses to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and current legal regulations. Individuals and organisations found providing vehicles to unqualified drivers will face penalties.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with local authorities, has also been directed to advise tourist sites and accommodation providers not to allow foreign visitors to rent or use motorbikes without valid driving licences.
