Authorities in Khanh Hoa said on April 12 they had received a letter of gratitude from Robert McCrabb, a 55-year-old Canadian tourist, who praised officers in Vinh Hai Commune for helping him retrieve his wallet containing important documents.

The incident occurred on February 7, 2026 while McCrabb was kite surfing in My Hoa Hamlet, Vinh Hai Commune, when he accidentally lost his wallet along with all his identification papers.
Upon receiving the report, local police quickly verified the case, organised a search and returned the belongings to him in a short time. The tourist expressed deep appreciation after recovering all his documents.
In a notable gesture, after returning to Canada, McCrabb travelled back to Vietnam and on April 10 visited the Vinh Hai Commune police headquarters to deliver a handwritten letter of thanks.
In the letter, he said recovering his documents had been of great help and shared his positive impression of the country.

Local police said the letter not only reflects the tourist’s gratitude but also helps promote a positive image of Vietnam’s public security forces as dedicated and service oriented.
