Vietnam launches National Employment Exchange

Vietnam has launched a national employment exchange platform connecting more than 53 million workers with nearly one million businesses, marking a major step in digitalising the labour market.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on April 14 officially introduced the National Employment Exchange at vieclam.gov.vn, positioning it as a key piece of digital infrastructure to improve transparency and connectivity in the labour market.

Speaking at the launch, minister Do Thanh Binh described the rollout as “a major milestone” in modernising and digitally transforming the labour and employment sector.

The platform is expected to play a critical role in connecting labour supply and demand while supporting a more transparent, market-oriented employment system.

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the project’s lead technology partner, developed the platform using modern architecture and international benchmarks. The system is integrated with multiple databases under the ministry of home affairs, including the national population database managed by the ministry of public security.

Huynh Quang Liem, chief executive of VNPT, said the launch marked only the initial stage of development, stressing the importance of sustained participation from all stakeholders to ensure high-quality and reliable data.

The platform has been welcomed by both domestic and international business communities.

Ko Tae Yeon, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, said the exchange represents an important foundation for the country’s employment services system, noting that workforce quality directly affects production, delivery timelines and long-term investment strategies.

He expressed expectations that the system would provide detailed data classification by sector, skill and region while maintaining strong links with vocational training systems to improve job matching.

If operated effectively, the platform could help refine national labour policies and serve as a sustainable bridge between businesses and workers, he said.

From the domestic industry perspective, Le Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, highlighted growing labour shortages in the seafood sector as workers shift to tourism, textiles and services.

She said a centralised, real-time employment platform would help businesses better attract and stabilise their workforce, ensuring uninterrupted production.

Under its design, the exchange is expected to deliver value across regulators, businesses and workers.

For jobseekers, it expands access to opportunities without geographic barriers, supported by artificial intelligence that analyses skills and recommends suitable roles. Users can create professional profiles and apply for jobs online through streamlined processes.

For businesses, the platform offers access to a nationwide talent pool, reducing recruitment costs and hiring time.

For regulators, it provides real-time labour market data to support policy making, improve employment services and strengthen labour market governance.
