Of the new cases, three were found among those who returned from foreign countries between March 20-23 and have been under quarantine immediately upon their entry.
One patient is a 20-year-old Danish tourist, who arrived in Hanoi on March 8. She has travelled and stayed at various hotels in Hanoi, Ha Giang, Hue, and Hoi An. Under the airlines' requirement for passengers to have a COVID19-free certification, she took a viral test in Hanoi on March 24 and was positive for SARS-CoV-2.
Two last cases are staff members at the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital. These two cases were found positive after tests were conducted on nearly 5,000 staff members and patients at the hospital following the discovery of several COVID-19 cases among medical workers and patients there.
The hospital has temporary closed down for quarantine.
