The US President arrived in Hanoi earlier the same day for a two-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The visit is the first by President Biden since assuming office in early 2021, and happens as the countries celebrate 10 years of their comprehensive partnership.
After the welcome ceremony, Party leader Trong and President Biden hold high-level talks on measures to take Vietnam – US comprehensive partnership to new heights.

Bilateral trade of the two countries has also grown impressively, from just USD451 million in 1995 to more than USD130 billion in 2022. Currently the US is one of Vietnam’s largest trading partners, while Vietnam is the US’ seven largest trading partner.
Cooperation in defense-security, education, and people-to-people exchanges has also been enhanced over the years.
The US is among top investors to Vietnam. By 2022, US investors had invested over USD 11 billion into Vietnam.
