Many people in big cities rushed into major streets to welcome New Year.
In Hanoi, despite the cold weather, thousands of people flocked to Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter to welcome the New Year. There were also several music performances that took place on streets such as Dinh Tien Hoang and Hang Dao, attracting a large crowds.
Three big screens were installed around Ba Kieu Temple for people to watch artistic programmes.


In Hoi An, thousands of visitors came to place flower garlands and coloured lanterns into the Hoai river. The lanterns are meant to bring luck and happiness. The city also hosted an event called bai choi (singing while playing cards), which was among the events which drew the greatest attraction.

In HCM Ciy, many major streets in the centre of town, such as Nguyen Hue, Le Duan, Le Loi and Dong Khoi, were full of people. The Thu Thiem Bridge area, where fireworks were displayed, was particularly crowded.
