Vietnam reports 18 deaths due to dengue fever

Vietnam has confirmed up to 50,000 dengue fever cases so far this year, including 18 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.

Most of the deaths concentrate on southern localities with six in Binh Phuoc; two in HCM City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Phu Yen and one in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Soc Trang, Tay Ninh and Binh Thuan provinces.

The Ministry of Health has asked localities and hospitals to arrange conditions to ensure medical checks-up and examinations for normal diseases, including dengue fever which tends to be on the rise, amid the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.

Hospitals are also required to carefully dengue fever patients for the classification to avoid Covid-19 infection risks for them. Based on specific conditions, patients need to arrange time for providing medical checks-up for dengue fever patients.

Medical facilities have been urged to set up hotlines to receive questions about dengue fever.
