Vietnam repatriates an additional 221 citizens from Myanmar

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, an additional 221 Vietnamese citizens were safely repatriated on April 29, bringing the total number of returnees from two phases to 260.

The Ministry stated that relevant agencies in Vietnam are working closely with authorities in Myanmar and Thailand to complete the necessary procedures to repatriate Vietnamese citizens who had entered these countries illegally.

The latest group of citizens returned home on three flights from Bangkok to Hanoi on April 28 and 29. The Consular Department and the Immigration Department prepared and coordinated plans to receive and hand over the repatriated citizens to their families and local authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuing to work with the relevant countries to verify identities and expedite the return of the remaining citizens as soon as possible.

The Ministry has issued a warning to Vietnamese citizens to remain vigilant against offers of "easy work with high pay" abroad. It urges citizens to thoroughly research job offers, working conditions, and proposed locations to avoid falling victim to scams, which could lead to illegal residency and employment overseas.
