Total trade turnover between Vietnam and Germany is predicted to show a sharp increase this year. By the end of August, two-way trade value reached US$3.8 billion, 30 percent more than the same period last year.
According to Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Germany, Nguyen Minh Dung, the prospect for two-way trade in the remaining months of this year is very bright and total trade turnover is predicted to reach US$5.7 billion, up US$1 billion compared to last year, in which Vietnam’s exports to Germany hit US$3.7 billion.
Mr Dung attributed the increase in trade between the two countries to Germany overcoming the recession caused by the global economic downturn.
Germany is currently Vietnam’s biggest European trade partner. Vietnam mainly exports footwear, textiles and garments, coffee beans, wood products and seafood to this major European market.
