Vietnam confirmed an additional 2,758 Covid-19 infections on Wednesday, raising the national tally to nearly 10.70 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 53 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (538), Nghe An (178), Phu Tho (159), Bac Ninh (130), and Bac Giang (101).

As of Wednesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to over 10.70 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,592,609), HCM City (608,776), Nghe An (482,845), Bac Giang (385,863), and Binh Duong (383,541).

On May 11, an additional 2,589 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.32 million.

On Wednesday evening, two deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, raising the number of fatalities in Vietnam to 43,060.

By May 10, the country had injected over 216 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including over two million given to children aged 5 to 11. More than 10 million people have been granted vaccine passports.
