One Vietnamese worker was killed and several others were injured in the magnitude-7 earthquake that struck Japan's Kumamoto Prefecture on Tuesday.

Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Japan have sent officials to the affected area to support the victim's family with the necessary procedures and assist injured nationals and those whose homes were damaged.

The missions are also working with the Vietnamese community in Kumamoto to assess the situation and provide support to those affected.

Japan's Meteorological Agency has warned that aftershocks could continue for the next one to two weeks.

Vietnamese authorities urged citizens in the area to follow instructions and warnings issued by local authorities and Vietnamese diplomatic missions.
