Four among the 10 new patients are foreigners entering Vietnam between March 21-23 and they have been immediately quarantined upon their arrivals.

Three of them were students returning from the UK, all on flight VN0050 from London to Can Tho on March 22, the same flight with patient 145.

Meanwhile, one patient returned from Madrid via Moscow to Ho Chi Minh City. She had contact with her SARS-VoV-2-positive sister in Spain one month ago, and showed symptoms of cough and sore throat from March 20.

Three others had been in close contact with previously announced patients who visited the Buddha Bar in Ho Chi Minh City.

And the last three were linked to patient 133 who got the virus while staying at Hanoi-based Bach Mai hospital.

Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on March 27 ordered to temporarily close all non-essential services nationwide from March 28 to April 15 amid rising cases reported in the country.

Under the prime minister’s instruction, only services offering necessities are allowed to be open during this time, while all other services, including entertainment and sports services, are banned.

He also required local authorities at all levels to suspend meetings and events, including religious ceremonies during the period.
