This proposal came in response to the accident on Ghenh Bridge on February 6, resulting in 26 injuries and 6 deaths. This bridge is located in the southern province of Dong Nai.
The corporation proposed to use state budget funds or Government bonds to finance the construction, a company official said.
He noted that if the proposal is approved, the company will start these projects in May, with projected completion in 2015.
Up to now, the corporation has upgraded over 20 railroad bridges nationwide, he said, adding that the company is facing difficulties in mobilising enough capital for necessary upgrades to other bridges of the this kind.
Loc Yen Bridge in Ha Tinh Province, Long Dai in Quang Binh Province as well as Ghenh and Dong Nai bridges in Dong Nai Province have been marked for upgrades.
Other bridges on the short list include Thi Cau, in Bac Ninh Province, Bac Giang and Luc Nam, in Bac Giang Province, Pho Lu in Lao Cai Province, and Tam Bac in Haiphong.
