On April 4, some photos of a middle-aged female foreign tourist with a bloody face were shared on some social networks claiming that she stumbled and fell face down after hitting an iron hook at the junction of Le Loi-Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets in HCM City. The woman received first-aid from her friends but was obviously shocked.

According to authorities in District 1, the iron hooks were installed in the area by Vien Dong Import-Export Investment Company for the lighting at recent street art festivals.

Local said that dozens of pedestrians including several foreign tourists have fallen hitting these hooks.



Several workers came to remove the hooks in the area on April 5.



Vice chairman of District 1 People's Committee, Doan Ngoc Hai on April 7 sent out an instruction asking Vien Dong Company and authorities in 10 wards to look for and remove all these hooks to ensure safety for pedestrians.

The instruction also asked the company to send an apology to the tourist and compensate her for her medical treatment costs.
