The downpour, which started during the evening rush hour on September 22 across central Dong Nai City, left National Highway 1 and many residential areas deeply flooded, severely disrupting traffic.
In several areas including Trang Dai Ward, Tam Hiep Ward, Long Binh Ward, Long Hung Ward and Phuoc Tan Ward, torrential rain created fast-flowing currents that swept away motorbikes.
On Dong Khoi Street in Trang Dai Ward, water failed to drain properly and surged like a stream, leaving residents unable to travel and forcing them to abandon their vehicles and wade through the floodwater.
In alleyways leading to main roads, many cars were stranded and unable to reach Dong Khoi Street.

The heavy rain also left a section of National Highway 1 outside Dong Nai Children's Hospital in Tam Hiep Ward submerged to half-wheel depth. A large number of vehicles stalled and had to be pushed.
By 6 pm, congestion stretched from Amata crossroads to Tam Hiep roundabout, as well as along Bui Van Hoa Street and the section of National Highway 1 passing through Long Binh Ward.

According to the Dong Nai City Hydro-Meteorological Station, water levels in the upper reaches of the Dong Nai River system are currently high. Heavy rain combined with flooding could trigger inundation and landslides in low-lying areas, adversely affecting inland waterway transport, agriculture and aquaculture.
