Tran Tuan Anh, 26, from Tien Giang Province and Nguyen Vu Hoang Nam, 29, from Nam Dinh Province were arrested at 11 pm on Thursday. Initially, the men who were both Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway toll station’s former staff members admitted they had stolen the money.

The two suspects
At 7 am on Thursday, Anh and Nam who were wearing black jackets and masks with a machete and a gun barged into the toll station. They assaulted some of the staff, threatened others and took the money from the safe and put into their backpacks. They then rode off on a motorbike to flee.
Three kilometres from the toll office, Anh fell causing him leg injuries, so he had to stay there. Nam after that left the motorbike at Long Khanh General Hospital to catch a bus to HCM City to rent a room.
Nam called Anh to HCM City to receive VND50 million first. When they were meeting each other at 11 pm on the same day, they were detained by the police.
The police seized the gold Nam bought, using the stolen money along with VND100 million as well as related papers.
The case is under further investigation.
