Surveillance cameras to be installed at Hai Duong’s quarantine sites

The northern province of Hai Duong’s authorities have decided to install surveillance cameras at all local quarantine sites due to fears of Covid-19 cross-infections.

The northern province of Hai Duong’s authorities have decided to install surveillance cameras at all local quarantine sites due to fears of Covid-19 cross-infections.

Speaking to Dantri/DTiNews reporter, Hai Duong’s Party Secretary Pham Xuan Thang said that the provincial Department of Information and Communications had been assigned to carry out the plan.

At a meeting of permanent government members on the Covid-19 prevention and control held in Hanoi on Monday, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said many isolation facilities in Hai Duong still failed to meet pandemic preventive regulations. Particularly, people in different rooms in Hai Duong’s quarantine areas were often interacting. This had increased the risk of cross-infection.

Cross-infections have been seen at two quarantine sites at Vietnam-Canada Vocational Training College and Chu Van An Primary School in Chi Linh City. People quarantined there are all related to the Covid-19 outbreak at Poyun Ltd. All 2,340 people at the two facilities have been sent to other isolation facilities to ensure better conditions and safety. These were people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients.

The provincial authorities have instructed to conduct urgent checks at quarantine sites at Kuroda Kagaku Ltd. Co. which is facing the Covid-19 outbreak with many workers tested positive.

According to Thang, military forces play a very important role in the management of local quarantine facilities.

The official emphasised that any person and household who are in locked down areas but do not follow Covid-19 prevention regulations strictly can be sent to quarantine sites. They will also have to pay quarantine fees themselves.

By 6 am this morning, February 17, Hai Duong had a total number of 511 Covid-19 cases, including 57 discharged from hospital for their full recovery. The province has topped the country in Covid-19 infections.

The province is home to 103 Covid-19 quarantine facilities, focusing on Chi Linh, Kinh Mon and Cam Giang. Up to 13,852 people came into close contact with Covid-19 cases.
