Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei will pay a State-level visit to Vietnam from March 26-28 at the invitation of President Nguyen Phu Trong.

Vietnam and Brunei established diplomatic ties on February 29, 1992. Since then, the two countries have regularly exchanged visits and high-ranking meetings.
Two-way trade hit 97.7 million USD in 2016. The two countries have set the goal of raising bilateral trade to 500 million USD in two-way trade by 2025.
