At the Japan’s forum on support industries in Ho Chi Minh city on January 19, Mr Hirotaka suggested Vietnam should find funding resources to support SMEs and devise transparent mechanisms to help them access investment fund.
According to the JETRO, the signing of free trade agreements (FTAs) will help Vietnam attract more FDI (foreign direct investment) and provide a good opportunity for domestic businesses to expand production and supply support products. However, FTAs also create great challenges for SMEs, especially the weak. So, it is essential for Vietnam to devise support policies for domestic SMEs to develop the support industries.
Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Dong Phuong echoed Mr Hirotaka’s view as saying that the city has found some funding resources to support SMEs. They can access loans with preferential interest rates and without mortgage.
