Thousands of passengers are descending on Saigon Station to take trains for returning home for Tet, causing the congestion.

Many of them came to the station quite early as they were afraid of being late. On the afternoon of the same day, many trains arrived the station late so passengers had to wait for hours.
Le Thi My Ngoc said that she tried to go to the station early as she did not want to miss the train. Tet was the only occasion she returned to her hometown.
Tran Thi Le Trinh said that she came to the station three hours earlier than the schedule.
Saigon Station serves 21 trains with a total of 16,000 passengers in the run-up to Tet.
