At the meetings, the PM informed his guests of Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and in the implementation of its foreign policy, while affirming Vietnam’s strong commitment to contributing further to maintaining international peace and security once being elected to such an important body.
The world leaders spoke highly of Vietnam’s increasingly important role in the regional and international arenas, voicing their support and belief that Vietnam would effectively assume the position as a nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council. They pledged to continue working closely with Vietnam at the UN and at other regional and international organizations, aiming to maintain peace, security, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

At a meeting with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, the Vietnamese PM recalled the fine sentiments of the Vietnamese people towards the people of Bulgaria, asking Bulgaria to continue encouraging its businesses to explore investment opportunities in Viet Nam, concerning the areas of energy, oil, green technology, biotechnology, information technology, environmental protection, and food processing. He also asked Bulgaria to support and facilitate the EU’s prompt signing of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement in 2018.

Meeting with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, PM Phuc affirmed Viet Nam’s willingness to create favorable conditions for Croatian firms to do business in Viet Nam. He recommended that the two sides enhance the exchange of delegations and boost trade and investment promotion, striving to achieve US$200 million in two-way trade in the next five years.

Receiving Fiji PM Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, PM Phuc affirmed that Viet Nam is willing to share its experience with Fiji in agricultural development, rice cultivation, and aquaculture. The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in adaptation to climate change and rising sea water, while protecting and sustainably using sea and ocean within both the bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

In order to substantively develop bilateral relations, the Vietnamese leader suggested that both sides enhance the exchange of all-level delegation, consider the formation of a number of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and creating favorable conditions to their companies to explore the market and business opportunities, especially in the fields of mutual strength such as agriculture and tourism.
