Petrol prices up slightly by VND189 per litre

The retail prices of petrol have been increased by a maximum of VND189 per litre following a joint decision by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The retail prices of petrol was increased by a maximum of VND189 per litre on October 3.

However, the prices of diesel and kerosene were cut by VND163 and VND74 per litre respectively. Mazut was also down by VND206 per kilogram.

With the latest adjustments, which took effect from 15:30 on October 3, a litre of RON 92 petrol will rise to VND18,139 and E5 bio petrol to VND17,644.

This is the second consecutive rise in petrol prices since a sharp reduction of VND1,198 per litre early last month.

So far this year, petrol retail prices have seen five rounds of upward adjustment and seven rounds of downward adjustment.

According to the two ministries, there have been fluctuations in fuel prices on the global market lately with a barrel of RON 92 petrol averaging US$62.292 during the period from September 18 to October 2, up US$4 from the previous two weeks.
