The visit takes place on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of the establishment of Viet Nam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, thus offering an important opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to further heighten the bilateral ties.
The visit also reflects Viet Nam’s consistent policy of attaching importance and giving high priority to consolidating and enhancing relations with Cambodia and the Cambodian People’s Party.
Despite historical upheavals, the bilateral relations have become increasingly close and steadfast thanks to great endeavors of generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
In the spirit of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, all-faceted and long-lasting cooperation,” the two countries’ relationship continues advancing in all fields.
Both sides have maintained the exchange of delegations at all levels, contributing to consolidating and enhancing trust and mutual understanding.
The two-way trade value rose to US$3 billion last year and both countries pledged to raise the figure to US$5 billion in the coming time.
Defense and security cooperation has been strengthened. The two countries committed to the policy of not allowing any hostile forces to use the territory of either country to threaten the other’s security.
Based on the signed agreements, the two sides’ competent agencies and border provinces are actively cooperating in border demarcation and landmark planting with 84% of the work completed.
