Over 27,000 more Covid-19 patients recover

Vietnam confirmed an additional 6,957 Covid-19 infections on Friday and 27,250 more patients recovered from the diseases the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam confirmed an additional 6,957 Covid-19 infections on Friday and 27,250 more patients recovered from the diseases the same day, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, 6,941 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 37 localities including HCM City (3,670), Binh Duong (1,787), Dong Nai (735), An Giang (116), and Long An (107). There were 16 imported patients confirmed today.

The new infection number showed a decrease of 996 cases compared to yesterday's figure. There were 3,897 infections found in the community.

As of Friday evening, 793,149 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April. Some localities recorded the highest number of patients include HCM City (392,329), Binh Duong (212,843), Dong Nai (49,330), Long An (32,575), and Tien Giang (14,071). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 797,712. The country now stands 44th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On October 1, an additional 27,250 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 636,081.

On Friday evening, a further 136 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 19,437. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (96), Binh Duong (19) Long An (5), Dong Nai (5), Can Tho (3), An Giang (2), Tien Giang (2), Dong Thap (1), Binh Phuoc (1), Ca Mau (1), and Kien Giang (1).

The country has so far conducted over 42.88 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 9.81 million people having received two doses.
