Hoa Binh Province faces landslide threat.

The rain from October 28 to 30 caused a large crack on the hill in Rong Vong Village, Lam Son Commune, Luong Son District. If a landslide occurs, 45,000 cubic metres of rocks will fall on the village.

Nguyen The Hung, party secretary of Lam Son Commune said they started the evacuation after receiving the news.

On November 2, Dinh Cong Su, vice chairman of Hoa Binh Province People's Committee visited the scene to have suitable plans for the evacuees and how to deal with the threat of potential landslides.

There are a total of 145 households with 600 people in Rong Vong Village. 24 households with 105 people will be evacuated immediately. The Lu Thao Hill is a plantation with weak ground so it's easy for landslides to occur after heavy rains.

In 2015, a crack that was 30 metres long and 30 to 50 cm wide was discovered at the height of 50-60 metres above the residential areas. Luong Son District authorities started the project to build retaining walls to prevent a landslide but it was not effective enough.
