Number of foreign visitors to Vietnam up 5.4%

Foreign visitors to Vietnam numbered 7.217 million over the past 11 months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, according to the General Statistics Office.

The number included 4.363 million tourists, up 3.9%, 1.211 million on business trip, up 5.7% and 1.237 million visiting their relatives, up 17.3%.

Over 5.7 million foreigners travelled to Vietnam by air, up 5.3%, 46,300 by sea, down 74.8%, and 1.47 million by road, up 17.3%.

Visitors from China made the majority with 1.814 million, up 5.1%, followed by the Republic of Korea with 764,800, up 12%, Japan with 591,700, up 6.9%.

Russia ranked first in terms of travelers' growth rate in Vietnam in the 11-month period, posting a 25.2% rise with 330,300. It was followed by Cambodia with a 18.2% increase to 366,700, and the UK, up 10.4% with 187,600 visitors.
