Tropical storm Sinlaku has weakened into a low tropical pressure which has been forecasted to lead to torrential rains in localities on August 3-8.

Northern region to experience heavy rains this week

The northern region could experience rainfall of up to 400mm for 24 hours, depending on different areas.

Hanoi would see rain on August 3-5 with the rainfall of 70mm for 24 hours. Strong winds and thunderstorms would also happen during the rain.

According to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, many northern mountainous areas such as Lang Son, Bac Kan, Quyen Quang, Thai Nguyen and Yen Bai would see flash floods and landslides.

Meanwhile, provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue in the central region have been predicted to have rains this week.

Localities from the central city of Danang and the southern central province of Binh Thuan would have strong winds and torrential rains in some areas.

Several areas in the Central Highlands region would face rains during the week.
