14 people have just tested positive for coronavirus in three northern provinces of Dien Bien, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long announced on Friday morning.

Speaking at an online meeting with virus-hit localities on the morning of February 5, minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that the new virus wave has now spread to the 11th locality of Dien Bien.
"The virus has spread from Hai Duong to Dien Bien," the minister said. "Many people are travelling home for the Tet Holiday and there have been people who tried to flee quarantine, so local authorities should tighten control over the situation."
Dien Bien Province announced three infection cases on the evening of February 4 and three more were reported on the morning of February 5. Local authorities have found and sent 400 people who had close contact with the new cases to quarantine areas.
The virus hotspot of Hai Duong reported six new virus infection cases on Friday morning and Quang Ninh also recorded two new cases.
