Nearly 350 people are evacuated from Khanh Le Pass due to a landslide on December 15.
Chu Van An, the deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Transport Department, announced on the evening of December 15 that local authorities had cleared the landslide and safely evacuated nearly 350 people and their vehicles from the site.
"These people had been stranded when landslides suddenly occurred on the pass since early morning," An said. "Khanh Hoa Chairman Nguyen Tan Tuan also arrived to direct the rescue work. After being rescued, nearly 300 people returned to Dalat City in the neighbouring province of Lam Dong the same night while 50 others were evacuated to Khanh Hoa's Khanh Vinh District," An said.
The official said they were still repairing the pass, which has been closed to traffic until further notice.
According to the department, landslides triggered by heavy rains occurred at four sections of National Road 27C, including one on the Khanh Le Pass.

"More than 1,000 cubic metres of rocks and soil have fallen onto the road, blocking traffic," the department said. "We've sent teams to clear and mend the road to ensure traffic flows as soon as possible."
