Ministry starts North-South Expressway construction packages

The Ministry of Transport on Thursday started construction of three sections of the North-South Expressway.

Duong Viet Roan, director of Thang Long Project Management Board, said construction of three packages of Mai Son-Highway 45 part under the North-South Expressway Project kicked off on November 19. Bidding Package 10 has an investment of over VND1.6trn (USD68.7m), Package 12 has an investment of VND1.3tn and Package 13 has an investment of VND1.2trn.

Package 10 includes a road section from Mai Son Commune in Ninh Binh Province to Ha Long Commune in Thanh Hoa Province while the Package 12 includes a road section that runs through Ha Trung District in Thanh Hoa Province. Package 13 includes an elevated expressway section that runs through Ha Trung, Vinh Loc, Yen Dinh and Thieu Hoa districts in Thanh Hoa Province.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said there are 11 packages in the eastern part of the North-South Expressway Project during the 2017-2020 period. Three BOT packages were later converted into public investments and started on September 30.
